၁၀တန္းေက်ာင္းသူ တစ္ဦးျဖစ္သူ ခင္ေမခန္႔သည္ ေန႔စဥ္ျပန္ေနက်အတိုင္း အိမ္မွ ေက်ာင္းသို႔ လမ္းေလွ်ာက္ျပန္လာခဲ့သည္။ ထုိစဥ္ သူမ၏ ေရွ႔မွ လမ္းေလ်ွာက္ေနေသာ ေက်ာင္းသူတစ္ေယာက္ထံမွ ထီး၊ ကြန္ပါဘူး၊ စာအုပ္ စသည္ျဖင့္ တစ္ခုျပီးတစ္ခု ျပဳတ္က်ေနသည္ ကို ေတြ႔ေလသည္။ သူမသည္ ထိုတစ္ခုျခင္းစီအား ေနာက္မွ လိုက္ေကာက္ေပးရင္း မႏိုင္မနင္းျဖစ္ေနေသာေၾကာင့္ အကူအညီလုိပါက သူမ၏ အိမ္အထိ လိုက္ပို႔ေပးမည္ျဖစ္ေၾကာင္း၊ အနီးအနားတြင္ပင္ ေနသည္ျဖစ္ေသာေၾကာင့္ အားနာရန္ မလိုေၾကာင္း စသည္ျဖင့္ ေျပာဆိုၿပီး ထိုေက်ာင္းသူ၏ အိမ္သို႔ လိုက္ပါပို႔ေဆာင္ေပး၏။ ထိုေက်ာင္းသူမေလး၏ အမည္မွာလည္း ရင္ျငိမ္းပြင့္ခိုင္ ျဖစ္ေၾကာင္း၊ ျမိဳ႔ထဲေက်ာင္းတြင္ ေက်ာင္းတက္ေနေသာ ၁၀တန္းေက်ာင္းသူပင္ျဖစ္ေၾကာင္း သိလိုက္ရေလသည္။ ရင္ျငိမ္းပြင့္ခုိင္၏ အိမ္အေရာက္တြင္ ႏွစ္ဦးသား စကားမ်ား ေဖာင္ဖြဲ႔ကာ ေျပာဆိုၾကၿပီး၊ ၁၀တန္းစာေမးပြဲအတြက္ စာအတူတူဖတ္ၾကရန္၊ တစ္ဦးနားမလည္သည္မ်ားကို တစ္ဦးက ရွင္းျပရန္ သေဘာတူၾကသည္။

သုိ႔ႏွင့္ ခင္ေမခန္႔သည္ ရင္ျငိမ္းပြင့္ခိုင္ျဖင့္ စာအတူတူက်က္၊ ၁၀တန္းစာေမးပြဲ အတူတူေျဖကာ၊ ႏွစ္ဦးစလံုးပင္ ဂုဏ္ထူးေ၀ေ၀ဆာဆာျဖင့္ ၁၀တန္းေအာင္သြားၾကသည္။ ခင္ေမခန္႔က ေရဆင္းစိုက္ပ်ိဳးေရး တြင္ ပညာဆက္လက္သင္ၾကားၿပီး ရင္ျငိမ္းပြင့္ခိုင္က စီးပြားေရးဘာသာရပ္ကို ဆက္လက္သင္ၾကားျဖစ္၏။

တစ္ဦးႏွင့္ တစ္ဦး ႏွစ္အေတာ္ၾကာ ေ၀းကြာၿပီးေနာက္ တစ္ရက္တြင္ ရင္ျငိမ္းပြင့္ခိုင္က ခင္ေမခန္႔ထံသို႔ အလည္ေရာက္ရွိလာေလသည္။

ရင္ျငိမ္းရယ္.. ငါ ျပန္လာမွ ေတြ႔ၾကတာေပ့ါ။ ဘာျဖစ္လို႔ ေရဆင္းထိ လိုက္လာတာလဲ။

ငါ နင့္ကို ေျပာစရာရွိလို႔ပါ ေမခန္႔ရယ္။ နင့္ကိုငါ မေျပာဘဲ သိမ္းထားတာၾကာလွျပီ။ လူခ်င္းေတြ႔ၿပီး ေျပာခ်င္လြန္းလို႔၊ နင့္ကို ေတြ႔ခ်င္လြန္းလို႔ ငါ လိုက္လာတာပါ။

ကဲ.. ဘာမ်ားလဲ.. ေျပာ.. ေျပာ..။

နင္မွတ္မိလား..၊ နင္နဲ႔ ငါနဲ႔ ပထမဆံုး စ ေတြ႔တဲ့ေနေလ။

ငါ တစ္ခုၿပီး တစ္ခု မႏိုင္မနင္းနဲ႔ ျပဳတ္က်ေနပါေရာလား..။

အဲဒီ့ေန႔က ငါ... ငါ့ လြယ္အိတ္ကို ဓားနဲ႔မႊေနေအာင္ လွီးထားလို႔ အဲလို တစ္ခုျပီး တစ္ခု ျပဳတ္က်ေနတာ။ ငါ့အိတ္ထဲမွာလဲ ဓားလဲ ပါတယ္..။ ကတ္ေက်းပါတယ္။ ငါ ၁၀တန္းစာေမးပြဲကုိ မေျဖခ်င္လို႔.. ၊ မေျဖခ်င္ရတဲ့ အေၾကာင္းက ငါ ငါ့ အေမနဲ႔အေဖ ျဖစ္ေစခ်င္သလို ေဆးေက်ာင္းမ၀င္မွာ ငါ့ဘာသာငါ သိလို႔ေလ....။

ဟယ္ နင္ကလဲ..။

အဲဒါ အဲ့ဒီေန႔က ငါ့ အခန္းထဲ ငါ ျပန္ေရာက္ရင္ ငါ့ကိုယ္ငါ သတ္ေသေတာ့မလို႔..၊ လက္ေကာက္၀တ္ကို ဓားနဲ႔လွီးရင္ ေသတယ္လို႔ ေျပာၾကတယ္ မဟုတ္လား..။

ဟယ္.. ရင္ျငိမ္းရယ္....ျဖစ္မွျဖစ္ရေလ..။

ဒါေပမဲ့ နင္ ငါ့ကို ကူေကာက္ေပးၿပီး အိမ္အထိ လိုက္ပို႔၊ စကားေတြ ေဖာင္ဖြဲ႔ေအာင္ ေျပာရင္း.. ငါ့အၾကံအစည္ကို ငါ လံုး၀ ေမ့သြားတယ္..။ စာေတြ အတူတူလုပ္ၾကရေအာင္ဟယ္လို႔.. နင္ မ်က္လံုးလက္လက္ေလးနဲ႔ ေျပာတာကို ငါ လံုး၀ မေမ့ဘူး သိလား.. ေမခန္႔...။

အို.. ရင္ျငိမ္းရယ္...။

ေမခန္႔.. နင္ အဲဒီေန႔က တစ္ျခားဟာေတြနဲ႔အတူတူ ငါ့ရဲ့ အသက္ကိုပါ ေကာက္တင္ေပးလိုက္သလိုပါပဲ.. သူငယ္ခ်င္းရယ္.....။

ေမခန္႔၏ မ်က္၀န္းတြင္ မ်က္ရည္တို႔ျဖင့္ ၀ဲတက္လာ၏။ ေနာက္ -

နင္.. ဘယ္လိုအခက္အခဲေတြပဲရွိရွိ ေနာက္ကို..နင္ ဘယ္ေတာ့မွ အဲဒီလိုမ်ိဳး မေတြးေတာ မၾကံစည္ရဘူးလို႔ ကတိေပးရမယ္ေနာ္.. ေနာ္.. ရင္ျငိမ္း။ ဘ၀ကို ဘယ္ေတာ့မွ အရွဴံးမေပးပါနဲ႔ သူငယ္ခ်င္းရယ္..။ ။
ေဆးေက်ာင္းမ၀င္လဲ ဘာအေရးလဲဟယ္။ ေဆးေက်ာင္း၀င္ၿပီး သံုးစားလို႔မရတဲ့သူေတြ အမ်ားႀကီးရွိသလို..၊ ေဆးေက်ာင္းမ၀င္ဘဲနဲ႔ ဘ၀မွာ ေအာင္ျမင္ေနၾကတဲ့သူေတြ အမ်ားႀကီး။ ေနာ္.. ရင္ျငိမ္း။

A Simple Gesture
Mark was walking home from school one day when he noticed the boy ahead of him had tripped and dropped all of the books he was carrying, along with two sweaters, a baseball bat, a glove and a small tape recorder. Mark knelt down and helped the boy pick up the scattered articles. Since they were going the same way, he helped to carry part of the burden. As they walked Mark discovered the boy's name was Bill, that he loved video games, baseball and history, and that he was having lots of trouble with his other subjects and that he had just broken up with his girlfriend. They arrived at Bill's home first and Mark was invited in for a Coke and to watch some television. The afternoon passed pleasantly with a few laughs and some shared small talk, then Mark went home. They continued to see each other around school, had lunch together once or twice, then both graduated from junior high school. They ended up in the same high school where they had brief contacts over the years. Finally the long awaited senior year came and three weeks before graduation, Bill asked Mark if they could talk.

Bill reminded him of the day years ago when they had first met. "Did you ever wonder why I was carrying so many things home that day?" asked Bill. "You see, I cleaned out my locker because I didn't want to leave a mess for anyone else. I had stored away some of my mothers sleeping pills and I was going home to commit suicide. But after we spent some time together talking and laughing, I realized that if I had killed myself, I would have missed that time and so many others that might follow. So you see, Mark, when you picked up those books that day, you did a lot more, you saved my life."

Live and Work

Father was a hardworking man who delivered bread as a living to support his wife and three children. He spent all his evenings after work attending classes, hoping to improve himself so that he could one day find a better paying job. Except for Sundays, Father hardly ate a meal together with his family. He worked and studied very hard because he wanted to provide his family with the best money could buy.

Whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.

The day came when the examination results were announced. To his joy, Father passed, and with distinctions too! Soon after, he was offered a good job as a senior supervisor which paid handsomely.

Like a dream come true, Father could now afford to provide his family with life’s little luxuries like nice clothing, fine food and vacation abroad.

However, the family still did not get to see father for most of the week. He continued to work very hard, hoping to be promoted to the position of manager. In fact, to make himself a worthily candidate for the promotion, he enrolled for another course in the open university.

Again, whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.

Father’s hard work paid off and he was promoted. Jubilantly, he decided to hire a maid to relieve his wife from her domestic tasks. He also felt that their three-room flat was no longer big enough, it would be nice for his family to be able to enjoy the facilities and comfort of a condominium. Having experienced the rewards of his hard work many times before, Father resolved to further his studies and work at being promoted again. The family still did not get to see much of him. In fact, sometimes Father had to work on Sundays entertaining clients. Again, whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.

As expected, Father’s hard work paid off again and he bought a beautiful condominium overlooking the coast of Singapore. On the first Sunday evening at their new home, Father declared to his family that he decided not to take anymore courses or pursue any more promotions. From then on he was going to devote more time to his family.

Father did not wake up the next day.
